Hydration 101

Water is VITAL for our cells to thrive and our body to function. It's present in most chemical reactions in our body, regulates our temperature, converts food into energy... and the list goes on!

We often forget the basics when trying to feel great. It's so important to drink enough water to hydrate your cells and organs and keep your system running smoothly.

Water helps our body to accomplish many important functions:

-carries oxygen and nutrients to our cells

-helps to flush bacteria from the bladder

-regulates our body temperature (helps us sweat!)

-essential for proper digestion

-cushions our joints and mucous membranes

-can help regulate blood pressure

Did you know that we often misinterpret our body's cue for thirst, and think that we are hungry instead? Drink a glass of water a half hour before your meals, and drink some water before snacking to make sure that you are actually hungry, not thirsty!

I've been making more of an effort to drink more water throughout my day. I like to add mint leaves, cucumber slices or lemon slices to make it more interesting.

What do you add to your water?
